We are writing to express how pleased we were with how Alisa Lawrence managed the recent marketing and sale of our home at Duffy.


We had been planning the listing of our home for almost 12 months and had already been talking to other agents. As part of our research, before listing, we attended some open homes in our area. We met Alisa at one of these open homes and were so impressed with her approach that we invited her to meet with us about our property. While we went through the process of interviewing other agents, she really had our business after our first meeting with her at our home. It wasn’t because she estimated the biggest sale price, but we found her easy to talk to and we liked the fact she gave clear answers to our questions, had clear reasoning for her strategy and she backed herself on her estimates.


From the preparation for marketing, to the house selling under the hammer (assisted by your skills as an auctioneer) we appreciated Alisa’s professionalism, approachable manner, humour and high service delivery. She is an excellent communicator and we were regularly informed about feedback from viewers at open homes. Personally, I felt I could discuss any concern I had openly and honestly. 


Ultimately, we chose Alisa because we felt she demonstrated integrity from the outset, but we always felt her mission was to get the best possible result for us that she could. This she did, in what we now realise was not an easy market. We also like the fact that we dealt with her the whole way through the process, we weren’t passed off to junior agents. 


Since the sale of our property we have had neighbours remark to us how impressed they were with the way she conducted herself at open homes, always turning up at least 10 minutes before open homes and checking through the property before potential buyers arrived. This level of organisation is not something they had seen from agents they had used in the past. On one occasion she had to help us stack dishes away as I had forgotten about daylight saving and I was an hour behind with our open house preparations. 


Finally, on sale day, we witnessed the strong rapport she had built with our buyers. I’m certain the trust she had built with them went some way to securing the sale. We would warmly recommend Alisa to anyone listing a property for sale or auction in Canberra and we are happy to be contacted by any sellers requiring a reference for Alisa, or Michael Potter Real Estate.

As a resident of Victoria, faced with the task of selling a house from a deceased estate in the ACT, solidly packed with long redundant goods and old cars on the lawn, I asked my lawyer if she could refer me to an agent capable of advising me on a strategy for approaching sale and, in turn, managing the project. She referred me to Michael Potter. It was my lucky day.


Although preparing the house for sale was daunting for all of us, Michael had a plan to share with me. In consultation, we set out the steps to be taken and I was grateful when he agreed to manage the project. Michael kept me up to date with the administrative side of this process, including contracts, documents and letters of relevance by phone, email and often in person.


Michael has a wealth of contacts when it comes to seeking quotes for specific jobs. He gave those quoting plenty of his time in which he could convey our precise needs and develop understanding of their trustworthiness and dependability. Thus, I could make an informed decision about the quotes I accepted for clearing, cleaning, gardening and the removal of old cars.


When it came to the auction I saw no need to be present as I had full confidence in Michael. Since he had been the agent leading up to the auction, so much of his work as auctioneer was done. People trusted him with good reason. Even on the day of the sale, buyers felt free to put variations to him and questions prior to commencement and these were referred to me where it was necessary.


I was on speaker-phone during the bidding so missed nothing. The result of the auction far exceeded all of our hopes and expectations, because he had been both agent and auctioneer, I believe.


Michael is a very open, friendly person, intuitive about people and able to communicate well with everyone. He is not afraid of hard work. He demonstrated his integrity and an ability to perceive it in others and I am grateful for the opportunity to express my respect for such a professional person. Even though Michael’s commission was higher than the other agents I spoke to, he was worth every cent!
